Welcome to Cheaha State Park, located atop the highest mountain in Alabama Cheaha Mountain at 2,407 feet above sea level.

This State Park offers an abundance of things to do for the outdoor enthusiast. It has hiking, rock climbing and repelling, two museums, waterfalls, unbelievable views, a cliffside pool as well as a cliffside restaurant and much, much more.

You can stop by for a day trip or stay the night in one of their, cabins, chalets, hotel rooms, or multiple camping sites. Surrounded by the Talladega National Forest there is no more beautiful place to be then here.

Hiking Trails

There are 15 miles of trails split between 5 trails within the park. All with varying levels of difficulty.








Camping and Accommodations

There is plenty of great camping at Cheaha State Park. In fact, there are four diffrent areas for you to enjoy.

Improved Camping:
Price is $28.00 per night and there are 77 sites available with 4 ADA sites available.

All of the sites have 20, 30, and 50 amp electrical hook-ups, sewage and water hook-ups, grill of fire ring, and a picnic table.

Upper Primitive Camping:
Price is $19.00 per night and there are 26 available sites to choose from. These sites are on Tower road, Alabama’s highest point.

All of the sites have a fire ring, picnic table, water spigot access, and bathroom access.

CCC Primitive Camping:
Price is $15.00 per night and there are 28 sites available. These are rustic sites where the Civilian Conservation Corps Co 2420 camped when they were building the park.

All sites will have vault toilet access, a fire ring, community water spigot access, and a tent pad.

Primitive Group Camping:
Groups are $5.50 per person per night. Non-profit gets a discount at $2.00 per person per night.

There are five group camping sites and each site can hold 9 to 25 people per site. Each site will have a fire ring and water spigot access.


Lodging taxes not included in prices.



Chalets:

Cheaha State Park has five large A-Frame style chalets. Each chalet has two bedrooms each with a queen sized bed, a kitchen, living room, and a bathroom.

They are fully furnished with a flat-screen TV.

Check-in is at 4:00pm and check-out is at 11:00am.



Cabins:

When you stay at a cabin at Cheaha State Park your staying in a cabin that's almost a century old. So much history right where you're going to be laying your head.

Cabin amenities differ so call ahead and see what's available before your stay.

Hotel:

Looking for a comfortable stay? At Cheaha State Park you can relax in one of the 30 rooms at the hotel across from the Cliffside Restaurant.

The hotel has king rooms, king deluxe rooms, double rooms, ADA accessible rooms, and 9 pet-friendly rooms. There is a petroom fee added to the cost of the stay.



Attractions

Vista Cliffside Restaurant

Overlooking the forested valley, Vista Cliffside is a great place to grab a bite at Cheaha.

If possible dining at sunset is always a pleasurable experience, as the views at this time are unmatchable.

Beer and wine are served within the restaurant Monday through Saturday.



Swimming Pool

Swing by to the highest pool in all of Alabama and take a dip and cool off at above 2000 feet.

The pool is for overnight guest use only and open from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day.



Cheaha Lake

This 7 acre lake is a perfect place for families to cool down and have fun. The lake features a platform for diving, a beach, paddle boards and paddle boats.



Rock Climbing and Rappelling

As if there wasn't enough, Cheaha State Park also offers rock climbing and rappelling. The park provides no gear, but you can bring your own and enjoy some great routes.



Museums

There are two museums to enjoy while you are visiting Cheaha. The Civilian Conservation Corps Museum and The Walt Farr Native American Museum

The Walt Farr Museum is a relic museum dedicated to Native American collections. The museum has hundreds of artifacts such as bird points, arrowheads, pottery, knives and more.





The Civilian Conservation Corps Museum is located in Bunker Tower the highest point in Alabama. The museum is dedicated to the Conservation Corps and the collection of the tools they used to build the park.

Mike Bosarge Memorial Dog Park

Across from Bunker Tower you will find the Bosarge Memorial Dog Park. Take your dog off leash and let that pup run free while enjoying your time at Cheaha State Park.

Dog Park Rules:

    Use Park at your own risk.

    Owners are responsible for the behavior of their dog(s) at all times.

    Dogs must be leashed while entering and exiting the park.

    Dog waste must be cleaned up by their owners IMMEDIATELY.

    Owners must be within the dog park and supervising their dog with leash readily available.

    Dog handlers must be at least 16 years of age.

    Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult and supervised at all times.

    Aggressive dogs must be removed immediately.

    Dogs should be under voice control.



Nature and Scenic Views

Cheaha, being on the highest mountain in Alabama (2,407 feet), has some of the most breathtaking views in the state.

The sunsets and views from the observation tower, restaurant, and pool areas are unreal and Pulpit Rock on the Pulpit Rock Trail is always a crowd-pleaser.

Be prepared to possibly run into wild turkeys and white tailed dear.
