The Alabama State Park system consists of 50,000 acres of land and water terrain, spanning from Alabama's beautiful beaches to the Appalachian Mountains.
The system, started in 1939, currently operates 21 State Parks with 2,500 campsites and lodging facilities. The parks are known for their water activities such as fishing, boating, and power sports as well as their land activities like hiking, biking, golf, horseback riding, and even spelunking.
Rules and Regulations
While each individual park has their own set of regulations the system does have some universal rules throughout.
- Tents and trailers must be used in their designated areas.
- No glass or shatterable containers are allowed at any freshwater or saltwater swimming area.
- Swimming is permitted only in designated areas.
- Fishing only by rod and reel or pole.
- Picnicking within designated areas only.
- Dogs and cats must be crated or leashed.
- Camping quiet time is between 10:00pm and 6:00am.
- Fires in stoves, grills, and fireplaces only.
