Tail Guide Summary
Since opening in the summer of 2004 the Walls of Jericho has seen tens of thousands of visitors. The trail spans from Tennessee to Alabama and has a lot of nature to see and experience in its 21,453 acres. From over a hundred species of fish and forty five types of mussels to many species of song and non-song birds for your viewing and listening pleasure it’s a great hike for any avid nature lover. Also called the Grand Canyon of the South there is a lot to experience in this untouched piece of land. Feel free to bring your horse for a lot of the trail and tie them up or hike it on your own. Don’t forget to look for the rare Tennessee cave salamander while heading to the falls!

The Walls of Jericho trail-head (Alabama side) is located in Jackson County just about 25 miles northwest of Scottsboro right off Highway 79.
Head north from Huntsville, Al on Highway 72. Then take a left onto Highway 79 to the Skyline/Hytop community. The Walls of Jericho tract is just north of Hytop; Highway 79 goes right through the tract.
